TOP York musicians are tuning up for a fundraising evening in support of a city charity.
Chamber orchestra, The Academy of St Olave’s is raising money for York Against Cancer with its first concert of 2017, and rehearsals are already under way.
The concert at St Olave’s Church, Marygate, takes place on January 21, and will see musical director Alan George, the experienced viola player from the Fitzwilliam String Quartet, leading the orchestra of amateur and professional musicians. The concert will include the rarely performed Chamber Symphony in C minor by Shostakovich, as well as Mozart Overture La Clemenza di Tito and the Symphony No 4 by Beethoven.
