RE Aled Jones’ letter saying funding of the BBC is in need of a total re-think (The Press, November 15).

Yes, Mr Jones I agree absolutely with everything in your letter about the funding of the BBC.

One problem is that they are a large part of the elite establishment along with their political masters at the House of Commons.

The BBC are in all but name a quango seemingly unanswerable to anyone, let alone the licence fee paying public, backed up by the culture and media minister of whatever political party is in power.

This minister should be taking to task the BBC for its profligacy. This is shown by the bloated annual salaries of the board of trust members, numbered at least 12 on at least £150,000.

Factor in the salaries of the so-called top talent and the BBC is a gravy train that the establishment want to keep running.
