FOUR community projects will have the chance to pitch for a huge financial boost next month, when the latest York Soup event takes place.

The fundraising meal will be held at the Spurriergate Centre on Tuesday 6 December.

Several such events were held in 2015, enabling local groups to raise awareness of their work and to raise vital funds.

The meals are inspired by the hugely successful Detroit Soup events in the United States, and provide a quick and easy way for local projects to secure funding.

York Press:

Up to 150 people pay £10 each for a ticket and representatives from four local projects will pitch for the ticket income.

Diners are entitled to one vote each, with the winning project taking all the proceeds.

Winning pitches last year raised money for groups including the youth mentoring charity The Island, The Joseph Trust and City of York Athletics Club.

People interested in pitching are now invited to apply by the 23rd November, and members of the public are encouraged to book tickets.

Doors will open at 6.00pm, with pitches from 6.30pm and food at 7.00pm. The winner will be announced at 8.00pm.
