A HIGHLY-REGARDED York restaurant and deli have been sold.

Le Langhe in Peasholme Green has been bought by a York man and his wife, who are returning to the city from Sydney.

Ottavia Bocca had built the business, selling and serving high-quality Italian produce, and selling wine in its shop and wholesale to other restaurants.

The buyers are Adam and Lovaine Humphrey, who had owned and run the award-winning restaurant, Arras, and the café/bakery Arras Too.

A spokeswoman for Christie and Co, which handed the sale, said: "Their intention is to bring Arras back to Adam’s hometown of York, serving their unique style of Modern European food."

Le Langhe was featured in the 2015 Michelin Hotel & Restaurant Guide, and the 2015 Waitrose Good Food Guide.

Oliver Brown, business agent at Christie & Co's Leeds office, who brokered the sale, said: "This is the latest in a recent string of successful sales for us in York, following Monroe’s on Gillygate and The Parish on Micklegate showing that the best property in the city is continuing to come through us."
