I HAD the privilege of attending the reading of the script to the play Bomb Happy at York Explore.
The play, written by Helena Fox, is based upon the wartime experiences of the last five York Normandy Veterans and provides a poignant and moving legacy to their lives and service in the Second World War.
The four surviving veterans were in attendance, and the interpretation and delivery by the actors of a thoroughly researched and accurate script drew acknowledgement and great admiration from them, in particular for the playwright.
I hope that funding can be found to enable this play to be developed and tell a pivotal story in the history of this nation for generations to come.
