GEOFF ROBB’S amusing take on date nights (Letters, October 13) reminded me of another “oldie” on the same subject.
During a round of golf a young player, about to embark on married life, asks his senior opponent the secret of his 50-year marriage.
“Simple,” came the reply. “A weekly routine of a night out, nice food, good wine, music and a slow walk home.”
“Sounds good,” said the young man.
“Oh yes, works a treat,” said his partner. “The wife goes on Tuesdays and I go on Fridays.”
It’s the way you tell them.
