A FISH and chip shop with a long history in York has been named the best in the north east of England.
Opened more than 75 years ago, Miller’s Fish and Chips in Haxby has previously been hailed the best in Yorkshire, and has now been named top fish and chip shop in north east England by the 2017 National Fish & Chip Awards.
It’s now in the running to be named the best in the UK.
Nicholas Charles Miller, partner in Miller’s Fish and Chips, said: “Words cannot describe how we feel right now, it means everything to us to be named the best fish and chip shop in north east England, especially after only entering the awards for the first time this year.
“My great grandfather opened our shop over 75 years ago as the only fish and chip shop in Haxby, and we’re still here today. Customers who came into the shop then actually still come in to this day, it’s incredible. I now run the business with my dad; it’s in our blood”.
