A TOURIST from Germany has appealed for help after bikes worth €4,000 were stolen in York.
Walter Angerer and his wife were visiting York from Munich, when the bikes were cut from a secure carrier on their car overnight on Saturday.
The seats of the Lepierre bikes, pictured, had been removed prior to them being locked onto the car in East Parade, Heworth. Thieves used bolt cutters to break a steel lock attaching the cycles to the carrier.
Mr Angerer urged anyone offered the rare bikes for sale, or any shop workers asked about buying new saddles, to contact police with details.
The bikes had also been marked with a security number, as seen below.
Anyone with information should phone North Yorkshire Police on 101 quoting job 216 of Sunday, September 4.
