DOZENS of scarecrows have appeared in a York suburb over the Bank Holiday weekend to help raise funds towards the upkeep of local gardens.
The Heworth scarecrow competition is being organised by the Friends of Glen Gardens and takes place today and tomorrow.
There is one scarecrow in the gardens and 29 others in the locality, featuring everything from Minions to Olympics-inspired creations.
Maps are on sale to visitors from a kiosk in the gardens, costing £2, with all the scarecrow locations marked on them. Visitors are asked to return after touring the area and vote for their favourite. A tour of all scarecrows is expected to take between an hour and an hour and a half.
The winner will receive a £50 prize.
