REMEMBER the Olympics of yesteryear?
We’d have David Coleman, Ron Pickering, Hugh Porter, Raymond Brookes-Ward et al commiserating with a plucky and brave performance by a British athlete.
Contrast that with the performances of the last three Olympics and the medals achieved, and did you notice how many times when winners were interviewed they said that previous Olympic medal winners had inspired them to take up competitive sport?
So well done our Olympic team and well done the BBC for helping to prevent many youngsters slumping over their laptops, developing a stoop and shortening their lifespan.
Somewhere among the viewers of the last three weeks will have been winners of the future.
