TWO areas of York have been turned into wildflower meadows to make them more friendly to bees.
Glen Gardens and land near the Millennium Bridge are two of the first of 100 sites across York to be given ‘bee makeovers’ as part of York Urban Buzz, aimed at creating more homes for the pollinators.
The Lord Mayor of York, Cllr Dave Taylor, said he was alarmed by dropping numbers of bees across Europe and America and urged people to get behind Urban Buzz.
