HAVING just seen Seven Brides For Seven Brothers, performed by York Amateur Operatic Society, I have to congratulate all participants for a thoroughly professional show.

Costumes, sets, acting, voices, all excellent; although I must say the orchestra did its best to drown out the latter on some occasions.

One question remains: where did they find all those tall, handsome, slim, athletic, young men?

I did once see the The Student Prince played by a 50-year-old on the same stage.

Were I centuries younger and could sing, I’d be signing on immediately.
