HUNDREDS of people paid a visit to the former Burnholme Community College, in their last chance to look around the site before it is redeveloped.
Applefields School students Kurtis Helliwell and Jonny Mottram opened the music festival yesterday, alongside Tang Hall SMART’s rap coach Gareth Wilcox.
Organisers estimate that around 500 to 600 people dropped in on Saturday, when “Re:generation” festival was held to celebrate the history of the site.
Sue Williamson, of Tang Hall SMART, added: “It went really well. As an event to bring the community together I think it was really successful.
"There were people of all generations, from babies rocking out to teachers and staff who had long since retired from the school.”
The “rapathon” was the highlight, Sue added, when young people with learning disabilities performed a “rap relay” before taking to the main stage.
