STUDENTS, parent and staff have celebrated the success of pupils at the York High School Annual Prize-giving.
The event was hosted by head boy Harry Collins and head girl Toni Robertson, with prizes presented by former boxer Dermot Gascoyne.
Headteacher David Ellis congratulated all of the prize winners and praised the achievements of the Year 11 Rugby team in reaching the national quarter finals, performances of Shakespeare on the stage at York Theatre Royal and in Stratford, and the ground breaking work that had taken place in the school challenging homophobia.
Prizes were awarded to students for their achievements in each area of the curriculum as well as awards to students chosen by the Heads of Year as outstanding role models within their year groups.
Special awards were made to Lewis Carter, Year 11 student who best exemplified the Olympic values which are part of the York High School mission statement, and to Eleanor Gibson who won the Dorothy Cooper Award presented by the Chair of Governors, Dr Tricia Miller.
