A MAN has been arrested after a bomb disposal squad was sent to a York street.
North Yorkshire Police vans and a bomb squad unit were all sent to Burdyke Avenue, in Clifton, around 9.30pm on Wednesday and a 43-year-old man was arrested for "health and safety" offences.
Police said they believe there is no threat to the public.
A statement said: "Police are working at a scene in Burdyke Avenue in York following the arrest of a 43 year old man in relation to Health and Safety Offences.
"The safety of the public is paramount, and whilst police believe there is no threat to public safety, officers need to conduct a number of enquiries.
"Police would like to thank local residents for their co-operation so far, and ask for their patience whilst they continue their investigation."
