Regarding Roger King’s letter (The Press, May 20), of course I appreciate the need for pedestrian crossings but not misuse of a computerised traffic light system that disrupts traffic flow.
He won’t like this, but in my experience many pedestrians just cross the road however and wherever they like, although isn’t it strange that in Coppergate, we have two pelican crossings whose lights are regularly ignored, yet at the zebra crossing there, both motorists and the walking public do everything by the book. Suppose it must be the power of the Belisha Beacon!
