Home rule in the West IN the first week of fixtures in the Under 9 League West Zone all the home teams chalked up a win.

Three Heworth batsmen - M Fairburn, D Tingle and L Atkin made double figures- in the victory against Acomb. B Stevenson (0-2) and O Levers (0-3) bowled tightly for Acomb while M Groves (2-3) was the pick of the Heworth bowlers.

Osbaldwick batsmen Ben Harris (13), Jay Snowden (12) and Joey McCormick (11) battled their way to a reasonable score against Wheldrake who fell 15 runs short in reply. Jay Snowden took 2-1 for Osbaldwick.

Pocklington put on good performance with both bat and ball to overcome Ovington B' with ease. J Shingles top scored for Pock with 23 with T Stubley (22), J Atkinson (19) and B Potter (18) close behind.

York A' got off to a good start in the East Zone with a win at Stamford Bridge.

Five York batsmen - M Maltby (28), C Burdass (19), R Cowley (16), S Elliott (13) and Pepper (11) made double figures, Elliott then taking 3-1 with the ball.

N Saltmer (23), C Cartwright (14) and L Medley (11) were Londesborough Park's top scorers in the victory against Dunnington A' whose bowler Smith took three wickets without conceding a run.
