YORK City Baths Club swimmers Chris Burns and Bradley Swainston battled through to finals at the ASA North Eastern Region Youth Championships at Sheffield.

Burns made it through to the 50m breaststroke final and Swainston went all the way through to the 50m backstroke.

Competition was hot in the Ponds Forge pool, featuring several Olympic swimmers, but several of the ten-strong York party also featured in semi-finals.

Swainston backed up his appearance in the final of the backstroke by figuring in the semi-finals of the 100m and 200m backstroke.

Other semi-finalists were Tom Jackson (50m butterfly and 50m freestyle), Sophie Glasby (50m and 100m backstroke), Oliver Wilby (100m and 200m backstroke) and Tom Jackson (100m breaststroke).

YCBC swimmers won three gold, 13 silver and eight bronze medals at the Hull Open Gala.

The trio to touch home first were Michelle Moffat (400m freestyle), Sophie Glasby (100m backstoke) and Alistar Mitchel (50m backstoke).

Silver medal winners at their age groups were Tom Bartram (100m breaststroke), James Wilby (100m breaststroke), Xavier Edmonds-Allen (50m and 100m freestyle), Anna Ward (50m freetyle and butterfly), Drew Langan (50m breaststroke), Anna Atkinson-Smith (100m backstroke), Alistar Mitchel (50m freestyle), Anna Ward (50m backstroke), Eddie Clarkson (100m butterfly), Bradley Swainston (100m backstroke) and Jennifer Hodgson (100m butterfly).

Bronze medals were gained by Andy Burns (100m breaststroke), Matthew Dearlove (50m breaststroke), Michelle Moffat (100m freestyle), Chris Burns (100m butterfly), Sophie Edmonds-Allen (100m breaststroke), Sophie Glasby (50m freestyle), Drew Langan (50m butterfly) and Anna Ward (50m breastroke).
