TERRI Dowty, director of the pressure group Action on Rights For Children, is jumping up and down again because he says the police have now more than 100,000 DNA and fingerprint samples of children over ten years old who have been arrested, and if their DNA is found at a crime scene they will have to justify themselves.
I would go a lot further and DNA and fingerprint the whole nation. The criminally-minded would maybe then think twice before embarking on their chosen lifestyle, knowing they will be pulled in very quickly.
Recently a rapist and murderer was unearthed 30 years later and jailed, after being arrested for a motoring offence and having his samples taken, which shows how useful this tool is.
Mr Dowty should concentrate on the truly innocent children, who are beaten and starved by drug-ridden parents, and who are not protected by social services.
