SINCE releasing 1,000 copies of their first single X-Ray in 2005, Brighton five-piece The Maccabees have been a band to look out for.
With their debut album, Colour It In, they deliver upbeat and joyous indie pop that grabs you from the first song and doesn't let you go until the last.
In the same manner as The Clash or Blur, the songs are full of Britishness, as seen in Latchmere, all about their local swimming pool, complete with tight guitar melodies and drum and bass which are totally in tandem, a theme common throughout the album.
It's difficult to choose outstanding tracks as there's not a bad one on the album, but About Your Dress, about a first date, or First Love, with its sensitive and poignant lyrics and urgent, pacy music, is what sums them up best.
