RECENTLY, my daughter and I visited York for two days.
While exploring the town, a gentleman, Charles Henry Shingley, saw us looking bewildered trying to find various places we wanted to go to and he offered to help us.
He took us around the city, telling us the history and stories about how the many buildings and historical places were found, preserved, etc.
We thoroughly enjoyed the hour or so he spent with us, and we wanted to thank him and tell the residents of the town how delightful we found everything.
It is a beautiful city, and much can be learned by the cities in the United States who tear down buildings that have historical significance.
If we return to Wales and Scotland in the future, we will definitely include a stop in York.
