YORK has been named one of the best destinations in the UK according to TripAdvisor.
The city is ranked as the seventh best location in the UK - behind London, Edinburgh, Liverpool, Llandudno, Blackpool and Torquay in the TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice awards.
The average cost of a room in York is £111, cheaper than London at £141.
James Kay, a TripAdvisor spokesman, said: “This is the third year running that York has won a Travellers’ Choice award, with the North again dominating the UK top ten. With York’s average room rates bookable on TripAdvisor significantly cheaper than London’s, travellers visiting this historical city can enjoy great value coupled with great experiences."
The ratings are based on millions of reviews and opinions from TripAdvisor travellers. Award winners were determined using an algorithm that took into account the quantity and quality of reviews and ratings for hotels, restaurants and attractions in destinations worldwide, gathered over a 12-month period, as well as traveller booking interest.
