THE Diary, like an elephant, has a long memory.

So we remember those bygone days of yore, before The Press, even before the Evening Press - back to the Yorkshire Evening Press.

Surely a newspaper transported from York across the region has always required a fleet of full-sized delivery vans?

Well, not if this little gem, picked up at a car boot sale in Sherburn-in-Elmet by an avid reader, is anything to go by.

It measures all of three inches by two inches, and cost its new owner just £1.

Yes, you've guessed it - it's a scale model.

Where have the real men gone?

MEN of North Yorkshire - dare you take the dating challenge?

Despite official research which shows that men are more likely to be single than women, Lesley Brewer, a North Yorkshire-based dating expert, has noticed a constant shortage of single men signing up to her business, The Introduction Company, since it was established in 2006.

It seems then, that the eligible bachelors of the north are rather shy or perhaps they are playing hard-to-get?

Lesley, however, believes it is time for the gentlemen to step into the spotlight, and is "throwing down the gauntlet" - put her to the test and let her help you find love, or pay absolutely nothing.

Lesley explained: "I am really proud of my success rate. I have recently had a major increase in membership, but men are still proving to be less forthcoming than the ladies.

"Hence I am offering men a challenge. If, after the initial six introductions, you haven't met your match, you will pay nothing. That is how confident I am."

So, The Diary asks... are you man enough?
