PUPILS at Kirkbymoorside Primary School in Ryedale are celebrating a string of sporting successes.
Year 5 and 6 boys won the Ryedale cluster basketball tournament. They played teams from Helmsley, St Benedict’s, Ampleforth, and Nawton primary schools and were unbeaten throughout the competition.
Gymnastic teams from Years 3/4 and 5/6 also beat teams from Gillamoor, Helmsley and Nawton.
All children had to take part in a floor routine, a body management routine and a vault. The five best results were put towards the final scores for each team.
Year 6 pupils also took part in an area and a district sports hall athletics competition, both held at Lady Lumley’s School, in Pickering.
PE co-ordinator Anna Aspery said: “The children took part in running, throwing and jumping events and were victorious in both competitions. They will now go on to the North Yorkshire competition at Catterick in March. Well done to all our pupils for their sporting successes.”
