A SELBY author is turning her talents towards helping some of the UK's most vulnerable children with a new children's paperback and audiobook.

Christina Gabbitas has written "Share Some Secrets" to encourage children to share their troublesome secrets without fear, and £1 from every copy of the book sold will be donated to Barnardo's.

Allan McLaren, the deputy director of Barnardo’s Partnerships, said: "Keeping children safe is one of our highest priorities and Christina’s publication helps to reinforce this."

Christina said the memory of an aunt and uncle who ran Barnado's homes and adopted Barnado's children had inspired her to help the charity.

She said: "My aunt and uncle Doris and Frank Tordoff were an amazing selfless couple and were a true inspiration to many, including myself. We need to celebrate an applaud all individuals who have given up their time voluntarily to help others."

Christina will be signing copies of her book at WH Smith in Selby on Saturday, February 27 from 10.30am.
