YORK'S male population are the second biggest spenders in Yorkshire when it comes to Valentine's Day.
A survey of 2,000 people carried out by Travelodge found men spend £73.10 on their loved ones on February 14.
All across Yorkshire the picture is one of generosity with men in Leeds spending £75.70, Sheffield spending £52.22, men in Bradford spending £48.15 and men in Huddersfield spending £46.81.
Shakila Ahmed, a spokeswoman for the Travelodge, said: "Love is certainly in the air this Valentine’s Day.
"With February 14th falling on a weekend this year we are experiencing a surge of people booking last minute romantic getaways, as couples opt for the gift of spending quality time together."
People in York were also quizzed about their favourite couple, with the overall winner's Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge followed by David and Victoria Beckham.
