A YORK motorist who was found carrying a lump of cocaine the size of a golf ball has been spared a court appearance.
The 63-year-old man was stopped pulled over by North Yorkshire Police on Wednesday, November 4, in while driving a silver Volkswagen Passat eastbound on the A64 close to Tadcaster.
A police spokeswoman said the car and other items had been seized by police and searched back at the station, where a package of cocaine about the size of a golf ball was recovered. He was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.
The man answered bail over the weekend and a police spokeswoman said the charge of possession bad been with intent to supply had been dropped was replaced with a charge of possession for which he was issued a police caution.
For the offence, the driver was issued a police caution for possession.
