PERHAPS they should ask local York residents for suggestions regarding the hoped for changes to the entrance to Clifford’s Tower.
Julia’s suggestion of tunnelling under the mound, with a lift going to the top of the tower and giving disabled access to the view has merit.
Pat’s idea of installing a cliff railway similar to the Scarborough lift has merit.
My own idea of removing the big mound of soil and stone - the motte - and bringing the tower down to ground level removes all access problems.
I wonder if Press readers have any better ideas? Serious replies only.
