PLAY time just got more interesting at a York primary school.
Pupils at Headlands primary in Haxby got the chance to realise their creative vision after designing a new playground themselves, featuring a mud pit, castle, seating area and a special enclosure for guinea pigs.
A total of £6,000 was needed to fund the entire project. Vantage Toyota based at Clifton Moorgate donated £1,750 towards the total cost with the remainder being donated by the school’s Parent Teacher Association, and other local grants.
Headlands head Sarah Wright, said: ”We are extremely grateful to Vantage and the PTA for making this project possible through their generous donations.
“As well as a disused area of the school yard being regenerated and brought back to life, the children have been able to use their imaginations to design the new playground and have been thrilled to be involved in the whole process.
“The end result is a wonderful play area that helps to underline the school’s commitment to encouraging a healthy and active lifestyle among our pupils.”
The playground will now be enjoyed by all 135 children in Reception, Years 1 and 2.
