A TEENAGER has been ordered to stay away from his ex-girlfriend after he damaged her car over messages he read on Facebook.

Dylan Orkie McChesney lost his temper on May 8 when he saw the thread of messages between a friend and his partner.

The trio were at McChesney's then girlfriend's home in York when the 19-year-old picked up his bike and threw it onto a bed, causing the wheel to strike his friend, Beth Richardson, prosecuting, told York Crown Court.

McChesney left the room but barged back in moments later and the door struck the woman on her back.

Miss Richardson added: "He picked up a knife from the kitchen and used it to cut the tyre and rear wheel of the bike."

McChesney, who works at Burger King in York Station, went outside and jumped on his ex-girlfriend's car damaging it to the tune of £518.

He threw the knife back into the home, then spent the night in the kitchen.

The incident terrified the woman who took out a restraining order against McChesney.

In a victim impact statement, read out in court, she said she did not want to go home after the incident.

"During work he was sending me text messages and every time I saw a message I panicked," she said.

"I couldn't face going home that evening.

"I wasn't sure what Dylan could or would do if he lost his temper so quickly.

"I'm terrified of Dylan and any time I have heard him, seen him or believed he was outside I have panicked."

The incident was reported two days later and he was arrested.

McChesney pleaded guilty to two counts of assault by beating, two counts of criminal damage and one count of carrying a sharp weapon in a public place.

Judge Rodney Jameson QC put a restraining order on McChesney until further notice, sentenced him to a 12 month community order, 120 hours of unpaid work and told him to pay £518 compensation for the damage he caused to the car.
