PROVING that you are never too old to learn something new, Jessie Hall celebrated her 93rd birthday with her first trombone lesson.
The celebrations yesterday (Tues) coincided with the completion of a £500,000 refurbishment project at Jessie's home, Hanover Court in Haxby.
She said: "The lesson was a brilliant birthday treat. I am really pleased with the look and feel of our estate thanks to Hanover and its architects who have given it stunning facelift along with a newly landscaped garden area."
Part of the refurb includes a new communal lounge where residents will be able to take part in a host of activities and the music lesson was part of illustrating that.
On the day residents were joined by the Lord Mayor of York, Cllr Sonja Crisp, and other local dignitaries.
