WHAT has the proposed York business improvement district (or BID) got to do with you? Quite a lot, actually.
A York BID would mainly aim to make the business environment of central York better.
But what's good for business can be good for the rest of us, too. If the BID goes ahead, it could employ uniformed ambassadors to patrol the city centre, meeting and greeting visitors but also working with the police to tackle drinking and begging.
It might employ extra street cleaners - and even street performers to make York livelier in the evening.
We'd all benefit. So this is one BID we're firmly behind.
