I WAS really pleased to read the front page news of two council employees who saved the life of a resident who called the council’s customer service line (The Press, 3 July).
Their nomination as public sector heroes in the York Community Pride Awards is well deserved and I’m looking forward to hearing how they do.
Council staff working across the city are often unsung heroes who work day in day out to keep the city running smoothly. In the case of Michelle and Marie, we see the automatic care and attention that many residents will know they receive from council employees daily.
Council staff maintain this dedication against a background of ever-tightening budgets, so thank you Michelle and Marie for showcasing the best of City of York Council.
Cllr Neil Barnes Labour, Hull Road, Shadow Executive Member for Finance and Performance, Cromwell Road, York
