I WOULD like to pass on huge thanks to all those businesses and organisations who took part and supported the Raise Your Rainbow theme for York Pride 2015.
We, as organisers, were proud to have such a positive response from across the city and look forward to continuing this in future years.
It was great to recreate some of the citywide feelgood factor that had been created for Tour de France and Tour de Yorkshire for the LGBT community of York and North Yorkshire and, most importantly, made me feel proud of this wonderful city we live in.
Greg Stephenson, Chairman, York Pride, Lawrence Street, York
ISN’T it strange that when a Hull priest, Melvin Tinker, expounds the principles and the laws of God as set out in the Bible, that the powers that be at York Minster denounce him (The Press, June 20)? Whose side are they on?
I thought that the whole point of a minister was to do what Melvin Tinker has done. It is a slight on the Christian faith that the Minster should support York Pride and puts doubt on their claim to be a Christian church.
Greg Stephenson said it is sad and disappointing in this day and age such views of those expressed by Melvin Tinker are still held. Why?
Does he object to Christians holding fast to their faith that has existed for 2,000 years? “I am the Lord and I change not.”
