WITH less than 50 days to go until Parliament Street is transformed into a giant village green for York's new comedy festival, a pop-up shop has opened for ticket sales.

The Great Yorkshire Fringe will see performances held in two Spiegeltents, The White Rose Rotunda and The Turn Pot and one specially commissioned venue The Tea Pot, when it arrives in York on July 24.

To celebrate the countdown, The Great Yorkshire Fringe Pop Up Shop is open for business, taking over part of Visit York’s Information Centre in Museum Street.

The shop also offers What’s On guides, and tickets for the festival.

Steve Brown, managing director of Make It York, the company set up by City of York Council to market and promote the city, said: "The Great Yorkshire Fringe is a great addition to the York Festival calendar.

"It is bold, it is ambitious and I’m sure there will be a tremendous response from the people of York and across Yorkshire - it looks set to be a brilliant new festival. We’re delighted to host The Great Yorkshire Fringe Pop Up Shop and we look forward to the event this July and August."
