I HAVE to agree completely with Mr E Carter, and I'm sure many other motorists that use York's roads would too.
I travel regularly along Fulford Road and have lost count of the times I have been waiting for the lights to change from red.
They seem to change to red and stay red even though there are no other vehicles waiting to emerge and no pedestrians waiting.
This isn't good for congestion and I doubt it helps air quality.
The council should try turning off the lights to let the traffic flow.
I expect motorists will be a little more cautious at junctions instead of rushing to get through while they can. Anyone else agree?
Mr S White, Fordlands Road, Fulford, York
