A LONG-SERVING parish clerk in a York village has stood down after 15 years of hard work for her community.

Councillors in Fulford have thanked Jeanne Fletcher for her years of dedication and diligence to the area, including the crucial part she played in the complex legal battle with Germany Beck housing developers.

Parish council chairman Alan Smith said Jeanne had taken considerable time and effort in her role, and was proud to have attended every monthly meeting of the council in her 15 years.

She was thanked for her service at a special event in the village, when current and former councillors, as well as people from other community groups, presented her with gifts, including a watercolour of a Fulford landmark scene and a reference book of her favourite holiday destination in France.

Mr Smith thanked Mrs Fletcher for her hard work, saying: “The auditors frequently paid compliments for her detailed accuracy in the operation and maintenance of the parish council’s financial records.”

Helen Guest has been appointed to replace Mrs Fletcher, and she can be contacted on 07770 704756 or at fulfordpc@gmail.com.
