A man who admitted downloading and possessing indecent images of children has been handed a suspended sentence.

Frank Clifton, 58, pleaded guilty to two charges of possessing pictures and one count of making them at Thames Magistrates in April.

He admitted having over 1,000 indecent images of children, 83 DVDs and 405 moving images.

Mr Clifton, of Francis Road in Leyton, was sentenced to a total of 50 weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months.

For the charge of making images, which includes downloading, he was given an 18-week jail term, which was suspended for 12 months.

He was also given 32 weeks in jail for the possession charges, suspended for 12 months, to run concurrently.

Clifton was also fined £165.
