A CHURCH-RUN cafe in York has welcomed its 200,000th customer.
Aroma, in Haxby, marked the milestone last week.
The café opened in The Village in 2008, led by members of the village Methodist Church.
Martyn Holman, who chairs the management group, said that when Aroma opened, it was the only coffee shop in the village, although others have also since opened.
He said: “It’s not primarily about the coffee; it’s about serving the community and putting profits back into the community. We have more than 100 volunteers who serve and bake and clean.”
He said the church was between Haxby and Wigginton, and members had wanted a presence in the heart of the village.
