FIRE crews from across Yorkshire yesterday battled flames at Drax Power Station.
The fire broke out in ducting at around 9.15am yesterday, and crews were sent to the power station from Goole, Selby and Harrogate.
The blaze was in high rise steel ducting. Firefighters set up a covering jet of water to cool the structure down.
They then used water jets and specialist foam to bring the fire under control, and the firefighters had to use breathing apparatus to cope with the smoke and fumes.
The fire was extinguished and all four crews had left the scene by 3.15pm.
