A MAN has been remanded in custody over a serious attack which left a woman in hospital and led to a six day manhunt.
Kyle Illingworth, 24, of Cornlands Road, appeared at York Magistrates' Court today charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent to do grievous bodily harm at an address in Ascot Way on April 18.
He was also charged with three offences of criminal damage at York addresses – two on March 13 and one on March 15.
Illingworth made no application for bail and was remanded in custody until May 8 when he will appear at York Crown Court.
He is also due to appear at York Magistrates' Court via video link in relation to the charges of criminal damage on May 12.
Illingworth, who was wearing a tracksuit top, spoke to confirm he had understood the decision of the magistrates.
He was arrested yesterday in the Clifton area of the city, in connection with an assault on a woman in Acomb.
The woman suffered serious injuries and remains in a stable condition in hospital.
