FORTUNATELY, here in York we have escaped the horror of mass child abuse scandals as presided over by Labour councils in Rotherham and Rochdale.
Nevertheless, over the past four years under our own Labour council we have witnessed serious project mismanagement.
We are all familiar with the Lendal bridge fiasco, the massively expensive 20’s Plenty road signage project and the recent cancellation of the super care home development. But many residents are not so familiar with the far reaching Local Plan which details the next 15-year development of the city which is a requirement laid down by government.
Our Labour council cabinet was seeking to impose its politically driven ideals in this exercise regardless of objections submitted during the required public consultation process.
With the coming elections the plan to vandalise the green belt surrounding our ancient city with huge housing developments has been placed on hold but no doubt will be resurrected following the election. It is imperative that York residents are listened to this time round.
