THE Yorkshire First party has marked its first birthday.
Leader Richard Carter, who formed the party to campaign for devolution for the county, said: “This week marks one year since the formation of Yorkshire First. In that time we’ve grown beyond recognition. We’re now many people actively campaigning for a voice for the whole region, with first rate tried and tested governance similar to Scotland.
“Quite simply we cannot get the social and economic progress which Yorkshire desperately needs unless we get a real transfer of powers away from Whitehall.”
