OVER a number of years I have used Wigginton Road to reach Clifton Moor and I am always surprised by the number of people cycling down what in reality is just country lane “wider than most” but still a country lane.
Irregular verges, potholes (often full of water), speeding cars and heavy wagons servicing Nestlé, and yet on most times of day there will be two or three cyclists risking life and limb on the most direct way for many to Clifton Moor and beyond.
Yet there is a wide area of grass to the side of the road that would easily be made into a cycle path and for a fraction of the grandiose scheme between Haxby and the Wigginton Road roundabout.
