CONVENIENCE store operator Co-operative Food is unveiling its new-look store in Acomb this week following a £360,000 refurbishment project.
The Co-op store, in York Road, is reopening on Thursday following work, which bosses hope will create a “hub for the local community”.
The store has appointed its own community pioneer as part of a new programme that sees a member of the store team with an additional remit to foster involvement in community activity.
The refurbishment work has seen the in-store bakery increased, as well as extended ranges of products.
Phillip Johnson, store manager, said: “I’m excited about welcoming shoppers into the new store. The transformation will be amazing, and I’m sure our customers will enjoy shopping in the new environment .
“The store will be a hub for the local community, and customers can find out what is going on locally.”
