YORK traders who want to recreate the festival atmosphere of the Tour de France are appealing for musicians and artists to join in.
The Bishopthorpe Road Traders Association is planning a street party to celebrate the Tour de Yorkshire in May, and is calling for buskers, craft makers, charities, organisations, bands and artists local to Bishopthorpe Road and York to take part.
The race will pass down Bishopthorpe Road a number of times, and the traders want to exceed the 10,000 people who attended last year's Tour de France party.
Association chairman Johnny Hayes said: "The street party held for the Tour de France was a fantastic day where the community came together and had a thoroughly good time."
"This year we’d like to give the Tour de Yorkshire an outstanding Bishy Road welcome with a full day of fun and activities for spectators, visitors and the community. It aims to be the biggest street party we have organised so I urge people who have a talent or something to showcase to get involved!"
The theme for the street party is celebrating the local community and everything that is Yorkshire. Anybody who would be interested in performing or having stall should email bishyroad@hotmail.com
