CITY of York Council should be congratulated for supporting the big community switch, where individual households group together to switch their energy supplier.
I somewhat sceptically signed up over the internet after reading about it in The Press. I was later sent an email telling me the results of the auction and asking whether I wanted to accept the winning supplier’s cheaper offer.
This is a brilliant idea and demonstrates the power of people coming together to get the best deal from the energy companies. It is a no-obligation service where the average annual saving is £236.
My offer was a cut of £406 off my annual energy bill. I accepted.
