A DRIVER has been arrested on drink and drugs charges after a car overturned in a York street today.
North Yorkshire Police were alerted to the accident in St Helen's Road at just after 9am, and images from the scene show what appears to be a white Seat Leon car resting in the road on the driver's side with both front airbags deployed.
In a tweet, police said the driver of the vehicle - believed to be a man in his twenties - had been arrested on suspicion of drink driving and had attempted to leave the scene.
The road was reopened once the car had been removed, and North Yorkshire Police have this afternoon confirmed the male driver was arrested for charges which include drink driving and driving without due care and attention, among others.
The Press understands officers later made a search of a property in connection with the driver, and he was also arrested on suspicion of possession of a Class A drug, and possession with intent to supply a Class B drug.
