A PRIMARY school in the East Riding has been chosen for a top role helping other schools in challenging circumstances.
Head teacher Adrienne Palmer, of Mount Pleasant CE Junior School in Market Weighton, is one of 137 head teachers to become National Leaders of Education in the latest recruitment round.
NLEs and staff at the school, designated a National Support School, help other establishments with leadership, and are sent to places needing support, or to those moving into federation or academy status. Mrs Palmer said: “It is a great privilege to share the good practice we have at Mount Pleasant with other schools. This process is not meant to be one-sided. We will benefit from working with others too.”
Cllr Julie Abraham, from East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said: “Since Mrs Palmer took over at Mount Pleasant she has built a team that has turned the school from a satisfactory to an outstanding school. If her skills can be replicated in schools across the country it is good news.”
