THOUSANDS of people are expected to take part in the final days of the 2015 Viking Festival this weekend.
The event has run throughout half term, and seen visitors to the city take part in craft and combat workshops, strong-man competitions, markets and storytelling sessions around York.
Last year’s grand finale saw the Ragnarok - the Viking apocalypse - but tonight’s festival closing stages will see an epic light and sound show at the Eye of York, with performers and re-enactors taking part in a performance depicting the creation of the nine realms of Nordic legend.
Tomorrow, the final day of the festival, will include 10th Century traders continuing to sell their wares in St Sampson’s Square and at the Merchant Adventurer’s Hall, along with combat lessons and the Great Viking Bake-Off.
